The teacher must be a person of initiative in everything that is done, great or small.

The teacher should be one who is interested in the being of the whole world and of humanity.

The teacher must be one who never makes a compromise in heart or mind with what is untrue.

The teacher must never get stale or grow sour.

- Rudolf Steiner, Discussions with Teachers, 1921

Great quote!  Coincidentally, I just got this book in the mail today, along with 3 others.  I started with The Kingdom of Childhood, though and I am in heaven!!!  I thought Steiner would be heavy and dry, but he is completely the opposite - while still being intellectual and inspiring.  Amazing!

How exciting!?! Which ones did you get? In addition to the Kingdom of Childhood? Which I also have & would be thrilled to read w/ you to discuss, etc. I feel the same way about Steiner, less intimidated upon reading lectures myself.

Had to run to wipe a bottom (I'm figuring not  Too Much Information on a forum full of moms), so didn't finish that last thought quite right . . . I'm also exhilarated when I read the lectures & works of Steiner ~ totally intellectually stimulating and incredible food for, not just thought, but for my soul.

I just ordered "Kingdom of Childhood" from the library.  There was talk about a book discussion on the KCAP board.  I'd still love to get together and discuss some of the books/philosophies...

I bought

1. Practical Advice for Teachers
2. Discussions with Teachers
3. The Kingdom of Childhood
4. Soul Economy

I'm reading The Kindgom of Childhood now, and I'm in heaven with it!  I'm reading it much more quickly than I thought I would.  I think I'll probably read Soul Economy next, even though it is twice as long.  I didn't realize that I had started with the Kingdom of Childhood.  That's funny.  Tongue
