September coming has me thinking about our routine, and settling back in from the summer.  I don't mean for it to get too disrupted, and I guess that in general it isn't too disrupted, by summer, but it is so hard to keep them in a set rhythm throughout the day when they are spending so much time running in and out!  When the door can't stay open all day anymore, it will be time to go back to more crafts, and indoor activities that tend to fill our days and rhythms out.

So, what does your daily rhythm look like?  Or weekly rhythm?

Our routine just isn't. We have a very loose weekly rhythm. Thursdays is an at home day and evening with grandma. Friday is a knitting playgroup. Weekends we stay home and clean the house. Monday-Thursday vary greatly because we are at the mercy of mother nature to do our gardening. We aim for 2-3 evenings a week gardening.

It has been chaos this summer and we have two more trips before we settle in for winter and they are close enough together that it will be hard to reestablish a routine before we head back out again. Plus we are moving.

Big times!  Do you keep a basic rhythm, if not an intricate one?  We keep the same general waking, eating, napping and bed times even when the rest of the day might be all jumbled.

tuesday, wed, thurs. nights I work
friday and weekends are family time
friday for lunch we all go out to a restaurant, we each take a turn picking a lunch spot
saturdays i may work.  scott and owen go to the farmers market in the morning

Our days have been odd lately.  The kids got so independent this summer and I started spending more time on the computer.   Embarrassed  I've been making more of an effort lately, and watching a baby who requires me to be unplugged more often.  So, that is going well for me.  Also, I think Summer is more down time for us where Winter seems to be more about production for me.  Right now:

Wake up
Breakfast/check email and message boards/Kids Free play (Sofi tends to wake up anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours before Walter so a lot of this time is waiting for him to wake up too)
Everyone return to the upstairs to dress, fix hair, brush teeth
Back down stairs for cleaning, daily to-dos, and kids play time.
Snack
Play a bit more
Lunch
Further play time/cleaning or outings.  We have been able to do more morning outings recently too, though.
Afternoon snacks
More play time
Dinner
Hanging out with Daddy
Snacks and then bed

That seems like a lot and very little structure typing it out!  Tongue  I'm working on having a more rigid cleaning schedule and less computer time.  Since the kids have spent so much time playing this summer, I've spent much more time just checking in to see what is going on.  I need to put down the keyboard and pick up the knitting needles more!  Tongue  I'm also working on adding in a circle time, but I'm going to really watch our schedule and figure out where I can make it stick instead of just putting it in here one day and there the next.

Monday we watch Saigeley and do our Monday cleaning
Tuesday we do more family oriented things (crafts, appointments, library runs), and do our Tuesday cleaning
Wednesday we watch Saigeley.  This is a recent change.  My mother's helper was coming on Wednesday and it was my work day.  Now, my mother's helper has gone back to school and I'm trying to decide how I'm going to handle the change.
Thursday we do grocery shopping every other week and errands on the opposite week.
Friday is Knitting Play Group, watch Saigeley, and looking forward to the beginning of weekend!
Saturday we go to City Market while Daddy has school.  Then home to hang out with Daddy and do weekend mayhem (we actually have mayhem scheduled into our routine.  How is that for crazy?)
Sunday is more scheduled mayhem and getting ready for our week again!

yeah--we have mayhem too Smiley  it's called Fri, Sat, Sun!  actually, i usually try to say no to a lot of stuff 'cause I like having some down time.  it's during those moments that we are so bored we have to lay in the hammock or fuss in the garden or blow bubbles or...
