The kids and I made this wheel of the year calendar yesterday afternoon and had so much fun! Sofi is so excited about it.
We started with a circle and cut out our construction paper wedges for each season. We chose seasonal colors to correspond. We cut the strips of black to separate the quadrants of the year. We glued all of these to newsprint, so there would be room to write around the edges. We are pagan, so we marked the quarters and cross quarters. Then we labelled each quarter and cross. Then we added the holidays in between that we celebrate. Then we added the seasons across the top. Then we added the pictures to help the kids visualize what each season and holiday was. The entire thing helps them to see how the whole year goes in a big circle and comes around again.
