Title: next festival
Post by: kelly s on August 22, 2010, 09:05:16 pm
What's the next one you'll be celebrating?

Does apple, pear, peach picking count?

We'll be celebrating storytime beginning again :)

 8)  I say apple, pear and peach picking counts as harvest time festival.  8)

I'm not sure for us.  Probably Halloween, really.  An earlier harvest festival does sound like a lot of fun though.  Perhaps I'll plan one.  After this week, though.  :P  I'm feeling so overwhelmed with my calendar this week.

Ditto especially if you could share where you go.

:cheer: We're planning on apple picking this fall too.  I was thinking about a place around St Joe.  I know it's a long drive and I know there are closer places, but they have Honeycrisp apples! (I need a drooling smiley to put right here :) )

Honeycrisps have me drooling too!  Are they organic?  What do they cost?

Kelly, what did yours cost and were they organic?

It would be neat to sit down and make a list of when things come into season and the locations that have pick your own and plan annual trips.

I love Weston Red Barn.  We've gotten our pumpkins there a couple of times.

I don't have any info on the St Joseph place yet...in a few weeks I'll get it all figured out.

Also, I agree with the fruit picking list!  I really wanted to pick peaches this year because I've never done it and I think the kids would enjoy it, but I didn't know where to go.

$15 for bag of peaches, $10 for a bag of apples.  not entirely organic, but low-spray they say--just enough to maintain their trees.  one of the owners said that red barn doesn't do anything to their trees, but the fruit is terrible to pick b/c of it...  we tried to pick at red barn last year, but what was left on the trees was not worth eating...
